Theres a lot to be said about racing motocross. It requires superb levels of strength, balance, agility and endurance all while using every muscle in your body. Theres no time outs, no foul calls, no refs between you and your multiple opponents banging bars into every corner at white knuckle grip speeds. Motocross isn’t about teamwork…its about skill and being confident your the fastest guy out of 20 lined up on the starting gate. At the heart of pro atv motocross is the privateer competitors that don’t have the factory money and glamour behind them. They want the number one spot even more because its their hands getting dirty spinning wrenches and their wallet footing the bills. This is where AMA ATV pro motocross racer #17 Jon VenJohn, better known as JVJ, steps into the spotlight.

Hailing from the gateway to the west in St.louis, MO Jon has been riding and training most his life to reach his status as a pro rider. He’s raced numerous national events all over the country since he was old enough to ride 450cc machines at the age of 16. Now 23 years old he can say that he’s in the mix as one of the fastest ATV racers in the world as a member of the AMA ATV pro class racing in the GNC circuit that travels the U.S.. “I’ve rode since I could see over a bar of handlebars, but it wasn’t until I was outta high school when career paths started to form that I realized I needed to take a risk and pass on the typical 9-5 and go for my dream career, I can’t sit behind a desk the rest of my life”, says VenJohn. While his friends were packing up for college he was wrenching away on bikes and migrating down south all winter to train for outdoor motocross nationals. His success didn’t happen overnight but Jon was determined enough to see his hard work pay off, and it did in 2011 when he lined up on the pro gate at the first round of outdoor nationals.
